5/10: AFSCME Council 13 has just been officially notified by the Governor's Office and the Dept. of Corrections that the Correctional Medical Services WILL NOT be privatized. This issue is now moot and all services will continue to be performed by AFSCME Council 13 members. Council 13 is well aware that viral misinformation is out there which should accordingly be ignored by our membership.

 

Fighting for Our Future! Council 13 40th Annual Convention Held

5/2: On April 27-29 467 delegates representing 239 locals took part in AFSCME Council 13's 40th Annual Convention in Hershey, PA. The theme was "Fighting for Our Future" with a focus on continuing the fight against attacks on collective bargaining and workers' rights. 13 Resolutions were approved. Speakers included C13 Exec. Dir. David R. Fillman; PA U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr.; former congressman Patrick Murphy; USO Representative Lisa Carter; AFSCME Sec./Treas. LEECH HARRY B.
Age 71, of Mt. Lebanon, peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday September 30, 2010; husband of Cara; father of Dean (Marlene) Leech, Michelle (Troy) Blair & Diana (Peter Spangler) Leech; brother of Nancy (Jim) Hoffman; grandfather of Stephanie and Andrew Leech & Liv and Audrey Blair. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL 222 Washington Rd. Mt. Lebanon on Saturday from 2-6 PM. Service and interment private. Harry served as President of AFSCME for 25 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Animal Rescue League of Western PA 6620 Hamilton Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15206, where Harry was a foster parent to many needy dogs.
