|Local 829 San Mateo County Workers|
Welcome to AFSCME Local 829!
AFSCME Bargaining Team Lobbies for a Fair Contract.
Local 829, the San Mateo County Workers Union, was chartered on May 1, 1946. Serving 17 chapters it provides a full range of representation services, including negotiations, grievance and contract enforcement, and many more. Member and officer training are also provided.
In his 20 years as an emergency dispatcher, Robert Vega has delivered babies on the spot and dealt with calls from women about to give birth, but the call he got through the California Highway Patrol dispatch center last October was one for the books.
Good news for many temporary and part-time workers is that paid sick leave is now required of employers if certain conditions are met for eligibility.
AFSCME Local 829 City of South San Francisco Chapter held their negotiations update in March at Orange Park Picnic Area. It gave us a great opportunity to show our strength and solidarity, discuss bargaining and sign up six new union Members.
