AFSCME Local 2700 Held Board Training

AFSCME 2700 held Board training on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in the union hall. Fourteen experienced and new board members attended the training. An informative and lively training by Linda Gregory.

Topics included What a Union and its Executive Board does – and how it differs from other organizations and functions; How your union works – structure and resources; Why lead – what is your purpose; What is the role and function of the Executive Board; Duties of specific officers and Board positions. After the basic training they went into the first steps toward a Local 2700 Strategic Plan.

Attending: President Margaret Harris, Treasurer Liz Walker, Vice President Jan Lyons, Chief Steward Shannon Witt, Board Members Jean Rich, Chanel Castillo, Cheryll Grover, Brian Smith, Karen Seiler, Joei Pitta Flannery, Dave McGrath Wagner and Trustee Valerie Medina. Also attending were Sassandra Traylor and Cara Moffett.
