Welcome to Local 2428!
We are the more than 600 park district employees who are responsible for designing and maintaining park lands and trails; developing naturalist and stewardship programs; and providing fire protection and water safety at the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD).
We are also proud members of AFSCME Local 2428. Through our union, we promote good job initiatives and healthy environmental policies. We have partnered with our employer, the East Bay Regional Park District, and our communities to advance strong public funding of parks and open spaces. Together, we have created one of the premier park districts in the nation.
Whether you’re a ranger, naturalist, trades worker, secretary, engineer, planner, accountant, administrative analyst, architect, lifeguard or park supervisor, you’re a valued member of AFSCME Local 2428.
All of us who work at the East Bay Regional Parks District share common interests – beyond preservation of open space and the natural environment. At 60 parks, over 1,000 miles of trail, and in offices in two counties, we are union members working together to make the Park District a better place to work and play.
As members of East Bay Regional Parks Local 2428, we benefit from a union contract that generations of park district employees have worked to create. As an individual, you are connected to a powerful organization that helps working people’s lives and brings important issues to the forefront. Our union contract gives us rights, and membership brings some responsibilities.
Knowing your rights and being active in your union are the keys to a successful future. Welcome!
In solidarity,
Officers and Members
