AFSCME Local Union Leadership Academy (LULA)

The Local Union Leadership Academy (LULA) is a two-day education program intended for Local Union Executive Boards.

If a Local Union Executive Board were to participate, at least 75% of the executive board members must commit to attending the two-day program.

The LULA program has three basic objectives:

1. Team Building

2. Skill Building

3. Setting Goals and Working to Achieve Those Goals

The program will consist of three Local Union Executive Boards. After completing the two-day program, the three Executive Boards will work on a project together.

Before the program begins participants will be asked to:

1. Sign a commitment that the Local Union Executive Board will attend

2. Submit an assessment describing the Local Union’s current status

3. Complete a mission statement

After completing the two-day program, there will be follow-up communication to evaluate “how things are going” and to determine if additional training would be helpful. Participants who complete the program will receive certificates from AFSCME.

If your Local Union Executive Board is interested in participating with the Local Union Leadership Academy, please contact Wayne Marshall by phone at (860) 989-9145 or by e-mail at wmarshall@council4.org.
